The brief

Talaia brings 120 guests to six private villas on the west coast of Ibiza for four days in June. Guests come by invitation, so the brand has to feel private and assured from the first envelope. It had to work on printed invitations, menus and a carved villa entrance, and on a site that sets out the programme and how to attend.

Borrow the island’s watchtowers. Talaia is the Ibizan name for the stone towers that watch the coast, and every image looks out to sea in the early evening.

Key decisions

Key decisions

Key decisions

Key decisions

01

A watchtower for a mark

Why

The towers are the island’s oldest landmark and give the name its meaning.

Effect

One slim silhouette with a single arched door is recognisably Ibizan, from a carved entrance to a menu card.

02

Only golden hour

Why

Midday light made the villas look like a property listing.

Effect

Every image sits in the first hour of evening, with sea mist and long shadows.

03

Pressed and carved

Why

A flat logo laid on a photograph looks false to guests used to fine stationery.

Effect

The wordmark is pressed into paper and carved into plaster in every application, so the identity feels made by hand.
